Nitinol is a binary intermetallic alloy mainly composed of Nickel (Ni) and Titanium (Ti) with an approximate atomic ratio of 1:1. The conventional mass ratio is 55%–56% Nickel and 44%–45% Titanium. Trace alloying elements like Cr, Fe and Nb are added to adjust phase transition temperature and mechanical performances.
